Phase 1 - Chalking. [Click here for more information...]
A thin whitish surface layer resembling chalk dust. A loss of colour and gloss may occur. The coating is still functionally sound, but the appearance is unsatisfactory. A planned maintenance programme using Steelseal will restore the original appearance and prevent further deterioration.

Phase 2 - Breakdown of Coating.
Micro-checking (a very fine crazing of the coating) may occur, penetrating through to the base metal. The condition can be remedied with the use of Steelseal, extending the life of the cladding for many years.

Phase 3 - Corrosion of metal Coating. [Click here for more information...]
The zinc or zinc / aluminium alloy surface will eventually corrode, if totally neglected. It is still possible to treat the problem with Steelseal if caught in time, but it is more cost effective to address maintenance before this point.
Steelseal is the only cladding coating fully tested and recommended by CORUS for use on their Colorcoat cladding products, either for planned maintenance or to reflect corporate colours.
